1. Voltage, Wattage, and Electrical Resistance

Description:
Voltage (V) and wattage (W) specify the electrical requirements of the heating element. Using the correct values ensures the element works safely with your appliance.

How to Determine:

  1. Check the original heating element label for voltage and wattage.
  2. If the label is missing:
    • Measure the appliance voltage (usually 120V, 240V, or 277V).
    • Calculate wattage if needed using: Watts = Volts × Amps.
  3. Electrical resistance of a working element is very helpful for designing or replacing your element. Measuring resistance with a multimeter gives insight into the element’s condition and proper specifications.
  4. If uncertain, contact us with photos, resistance measurements, and details for guidance.

2. Glass Tube Type

Description:
Select the type of quartz glass based on heating method and application:

  • Q4 Clear – provides direct heat and is ideal for conveyor-style toasters, where movement ensures even heating.
  • Q6 Translucent – diffused glow, good for batch-style toasters, where parts stay stationary.
  • Gold Reflector – coated glass that reflects heat forward, perfect for display warmers.

3. Tube Diameter

Description:
Select the outer diameter of the quartz tube to match your appliance fitting.

  • Common options: ½", 5/8", 1".


4. Dimensions (A, B, C)

Description:
These measurements define the size and shape of the heating element and depend on your end cap and terminal type.

  • A Dimensiontip-to-tip length; total length of the quartz tube including the end caps.
  • B Dimensionshoulder length; distance between outer edges of the end caps.
  • C Dimensionheated length; length of the element wire inside the tube.

5. End Cap Type

Description:
The end cap seals the ends of the quartz tube and connects the heating element to terminals. Proper selection ensures a secure fit and safe operation.

Description:
The termination is where the electrical connection is made. Proper selection ensures the element connects safely to your appliance.

Common Styles:

  • Wire Lead – flexible TGGT wires extending from the end cap.
  • Spring Socket Terminal – snaps into a matching terminal socket.
  • Threaded Stud Terminal – connects directly to the threaded stud.
  • Flag Terminal – flat tab connectors for screws.
  • Ring Terminal – ring connectors for screws.
  • Rigid Wire Lead – stiff wire extensions for fixed mounting.
